Professional Development Programs

Conducting professional development programs or workshops, is a part of the AMS’s annual plan to train and prepare specialized professional cadres for teaching staff, Academic tutors as well as for administrative staff, to refine their educational and administrative skills with high efficiency in line with AMS’s strategic plan aimed at developing the performance of its cadres through training and improving teaching strategies. It is worth mentioning that AMS is the first to adopt and apply the dilemmas based educational system in Libya, which has earned it the distinguished experience in the field of preparing and training educational supervisors, and it has been organizing such workshops about a decade. Therefore, a number of workshops were held during the academic years, including:

AMS and its compatibility with international standards

AMS held a workshop under the title (Comparing the curricula of AMS with international standards). presented by Dr.Nawar Alqumati. Faculty members and the AMS Curriculum Committee were targeted as part of the continuous efforts of AMS administration to improve and raise the quality of education.

Induction workshop for ( Spirometry )

The  Graduate Studies and Research Unit at AMS conducted a workshop to introduce the Spirometry device, Presented by both Dr.Suad Al-Sarmani and Dr.Abdel Moneim Al-Werfalli.

This workshop comes within AMS strategy in supporting various research activities, raising the efficiency of its work team, implementing the annual training plan, and encouraging faculty teaching staff and academic tutors in improving their performance.

exam evaluation and its design evaluation criteria

A special workshop was held to raise the efficiency of AMS and faculty of Pharmacy staff members. The objectives of the workshop included discussing what the exam evaluation is and the criteria for evaluating the examination design, in addition to discussing the factors that affect the validity and reliability of the tests, as well as included exercises on difficulty factors and excellence of questions.

Raising the efficiency of the dental academic tutors

A workshop conducted on 5th February 2020 on tooth carving under the supervision of Dr. Fouad Mikael,  aimed at refining the skills of AMS academic tutors and providing them with the necessary expertise in implementation of AMS’s plans to raise the efficiency of its employees and to continuously improve their level of performance.

Time management

A workshop on the importance of time management and its optimal investment is conducted, targeting AMS academic tutors, under the supervision of the AMS Vice Dean, Prof.Noha El-Naas.

This workshop comes in AMS belief of importance of time management, and based on what has been observed on some students about their need for guidance regarding time management, and how to plan, organize, direct and control in order to help students change some of the negative habits that they practice in their academic life. Moreover, to enable students to manage their time and invest it which would reflect positively on their academic achievement.

How to search for a scientific report

The Graduate Studies and Research Unit of AMS in cooperation with AMS Vice Dean Prof. Noha Al-Naas, conducted a workshop under the title (How to search for your scientific report) presented by Dr.Mohammed Al-Kawafi and Dr. Marwa Shara, the workshop addressed the following topics:

Practical applications  were carried out by the scientific search engine, ways to determine the appropriate keywords for the search, and how to use the search properties to reach the research to be accessed in the least possible period of time.

Training Courses for LIMU\’s doctors in Egypt

A number of Clinical Skills doctors from AMS with Training Center at LIMU participated in two training courses, the first one was in ATLS, while the second covered the basics of BLS. they took place in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, with the approval of the American College of Surgeons, as they were presented by the Egyptian Center for Training.

Administrative systems and regulations

AMS is keen on ensuring that its employees are fully aware of the rights and duties covered by the administrative systems and regulations that employees are bound to throughout their work at LIMU. Therefore, AMS organized a workshop in which the Director of the Human Resources Office, Mr. Ahmed Al-Fakhry, spoke about the importance and need for the employee to know regarding the laws and the administrative regulations related to that matter.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=\”1/3\”][vc_column_text css_animation=\”none\”]

Risk Management

On June 10, 2019, Professor Abdel Qader Al-Taib, Director of the Training Center at LIMU, gave a lecture to AMS staff on risk Management, its definition, components, and its various categories.

Computer Basics

A workshop aimed at strengthening and raising the level of computer skills for AMS employees, presented by Miss. Haneen Sharif,  especially in two programs which are Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.

Communication skills

Lab technicians’ workshops with Al-Razi Laboratory

A workshop set up by Al-Razi Center to train AMS laboratory technicians, academic tutors, and faculty teaching staff using diagnostic and research devices at AMS, as part of the cooperation efforts between the Modern Science Company-Al-Razi Laboratory and AMS.

AMS Coordinators

Searching for scientific sources

AMS conducted a workshop for the second-year students (dentistry) on methods of searching for scientific sources via the Internet, which was set up by the research officer, Dr. Iman Al-Farjani.

The workshop aims to provide students with the necessary skills to search through the different engines on  Internet, in the best way, easily and as quickly as possible.

How to read and analyse a research paper 

AMS conducted a workshop for the second year students to equip them with the skills of how to read the research paper, and logically analysing  it.

The workshop, which was held by the research officer, Dr. Iman Al-Ferjani,  comes within the scientific efforts and programs adopted by AMS to raise the level of students abilities and skills in writing scientific reports, as it is an important basis for scientific research methodology.

Electrocardiogram 

A Electrocardiography ECG workshop conducted for AMS second year students,  presented by Dr. Basma Al Qatani and Dr. Majdi Sassi.

In the first session of the workshop, Dr. Basma Al-Qatani discussed how to read a normal ECG, while Dr. Magdy Sassi discussed how to know the manifestations of some heart diseases through the ECG.

Basics of debate for LIMU students

AMS Students participated in a workshop on the basics of the debate held by the Libyan Debate Club. The workshop lasted for three days, as part of the club\’s project that targets LIMU\’s students.

It aimed to train students on persuasion and presentation skills, using body language and eye contact, the skill of argument and observation in proper construction, and training in the critical thinking skills.

The workshop also included the following topics:

  • Private education is better than public education.
  • The economic future is the private sector.
  • Underage marriage is a social problem, not a psychological disease.
