AMS Students and How to Install the Endotracheal Tube

The continuation of training sessions for second-year students at the Faculty of Applied Medical Sciences (AMS) is still underway this morning at the Clinical Skills Lab, to learn the procedure of endotracheal intubation. It involves the insertion of a plastic tube into the trachea (i.e. windpipe) in order to keep the airways open or be utilized as a conduit to administer to the patient certain medications through this tube.

It is of note that today\’s training session as all other training sessions was conducted under the appliance of precautionary measures to combat the COVID-19 pandemic, by distributing students to several training sessions, with the obligation of wearing a mask and dividing them into small groups that are comprised of a limited number of students that would ensure their safety as well as the safety of the staff.

The Clinical Skills Center aims to provide training to students of various medical faculties on basic skills in all pre-clinical academic stages through the use of advanced dolls and models that would replicate patients and preparing scenarios for actual cases that would happen in a hospital setting.
